October 2026 Poetry

by George A. Hancock

October 2026

Thursday begins October’s run
Fully engulfed in autumn’s sun
My morning run is a quiet one
Since early bird activities are done.

Colorful trees line my road
Creating a bright fall episode
I live and run near wooded places
Autumn’s colors improve my paces.

Some mornings we find a chill
Which after the humidity is a thrill
October is a great running time
Often detailed here in RG rhyme.

Less daylight is a minus point
That gets many folks out of joint
And soon a return to EST looms
Ending further daylight blooms.

I run past fall enriched ridges
Autumn hues that are bridges
From this season on to the next
Happy runners keep this in context.

October runs are a fall treat
Easy on our mind and our feet
Despite the darkness, we run on
Running towards November’s dawn.

Chilly Runs

October’s road view often stuns
But we also get those chilly runs
Early morning runs do get cold
Always thrilling the running bold.

Yet, I still run daily in my shorts
Enjoying our long-distance sports
A hat, tech shirts, and even gloves
Helps ease that chilly fall shove.

This year has a question mark
Because that Super El Nino lark
Could create questionable weather
Enough so to ruffle our feather.

Early predictions say warmer runs
Warmer weather to toast our buns?
Above average fall temps are OK
We deal with what comes our way.

Remain weather alert and run on
This road guy is out before dawn
The fall colors are still out there
Running in Tee and shorts is rare.

So, will it be chilly or warmer runs?
It’s brief but we enjoy October suns
Time tells this story as we run along
Listening to October’s seasonal song.

October Colors

October’s colors are grand
As Autumn makes a stand
I live in a suburban place
October’s colors are an ace.

Tree lined ridges once green
Evolved into a colorful scene
Bright hues dot our landscape
Painting my running escape.

Gorgeous colors are so nice
Get outside now is my advice
Soon, October’s leaves will fall
Creating an autumn raking ball.

My run into the nearby woods
Provides the yearly AH! goods
Autumn gives us a colorful gift
As our running begins a shift.

Cooler weather is on the way
As is a shorter daylight day
I enjoy my morning view
Especially that yellow hue.

Two months left this year
Yet we run on without fear
November begins a trend
And we watch 2026 end.
