Cassel and Cruise win Downtown Carlisle Mile

5.21.26 Carlisle, PA—Stephanie Cassel of Hummelstown was the runaway winner in the women’s race in the Downtown Carlisle Mile, winning in 4:59.17. Jordan Cruise of Leola won in 4:25.09, unleashing a strong kick and taking the lead with 30 yards to go at the Carlisle Theatre.

Mary Fuller of Camp Hill was second in 5:20.46. Chloe Joslyn of Boiling Springs was third in 5:24.94 and topped the 19 & under race. Maren Neide of Elizabethtown was fourth in 5:40.26. Joanna Hayes of Dillsburg was fifth and top master in 5:44.49. Hayes won the mile in 2025.  Six of the top twelve women placed in 2025, showing loyalty to the event.

Brian Fuller of Mechanicsburg was second and top master in 4:29.42. He had such a large lead in the 40 & up race that I couldn’t see anyone else for quite a while. Matt Wehrle of Halifax was third in 4:29.81. Scott McGeary of Harrisburg was fourth in 4:29.91. Andrew Sulon of Mechanicsburg was fifth in 4:32.46.

The Appalachian Running Company team defended their title in the team competition. A new record of 914 entrants took part in the Downtown Carlisle Mile.

The Carlisle High School cheerleaders braved the chilly weather to send off all 914 runners in the five waves.

The Shippensburg University mascot (Big Red, a red-tailed hawk) wins the mascot race, much to the delight of the children watching.
Chloe Joslyn of Boiling Springs was third overall in 5:24.94 and won the 19 and under group.
Don Morrison of Coatesville ran 6:50.57 to win the 70 plus group. Don is 76, a true Seventy-Sixer.
Brian Fuller of Mechanicsburg, a new master, blitzes the 40 and up heat in 4:29.42 to finish second overall in the combined overall results.
Rachel Aslan of Camp Hill was third master and eleventh overall in 6:07.90.
Emily Nelson of Mechanicsburg was eighth overall in 5:56.21.
Mary Fuller of Camp Hill was second overall in 5:20.46.
The Downtown Carlisle Mile is a fun, family event.
Appalachian Running Company won the team title again in 2026.
