Teferi Wins with Second-Fastest Time Ever

New York, NY, June 11, 2022, 50th Mastercard New York Mini 10K—Senbere Teferi of Ethiopia, who has been dominating the USA road-racing scene in 2022, scored another win with a 30:43 clocking, which was the second fastest time ever at the 50-year-old Mini 10K.

The 2022 course was new due to construction in the northern part of Central Park.  It was decidedly faster, as eight of the top thirteen finishers had personal bests.  7401 completed the 10K.  Set up as an all-women’s event, 6942 women finished, along with 454 men who felt the need to participate, and 5 non-binary finishers.

Sharon Lokedi of Kenya was second in 30:52. Keira D’Amato of Midlothian, VA was third and top USA finisher in 31:03.  D’Amato won a spirited race with friendly rival Aliphine Tuliamuk of Flagstaff, AZ who was fourth and second USA in 31:08.  Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya took a spill during the race and finished fifth in 31:19.   Emily Sisson of Flagstaff, AZ was the third USA and seventh in 31:29.
