Sallberg Wins Masters Title; Hammer First Over 50 at USATF XC Champs

BETHLEHEM, PA, DECEMBER 14, 2019—Jacques Sallberg of the Cal Coast Track Club won the 10K that had 444 Masters runners between the ages of 40 and 59. Sallberg ran the muddy course at Lehigh University in 32:55.  Peter Gilmore of West Valley Track Club was second in 33:00.  Eric Loeffler of Run MN was third in 33:08, Loeffler qualified for the USA Olympic Trials with a 2:17:36 in Sacramento in 2018.  Jorge Maravilla of West Valley Track Club was fourth in 33:23.  Maravilla won the San Francisco Marathon in 2017 and 2018.  Peter Hammer of the Boston Athletic Association was 18th, and first runner over 50, in 34:36.

West Valley Track Club won the team title with Gilmore, Maravilla, 6th place runner Brad Poore (33:53), 9th place Todd Rose (34:20), and 10th place Mark Yuen (34:35) scoring for the San Francisco Bay Area team. The Cal Coast Track Club, led by overall winner Spielberg, was second.  Bowerman Track Club was third, followed by Run MN, and the Boston Athletic Association.

Zach Chupa 1651, Chris Namoli 1241, Mike Digennaro 1655, David Scholl 1513, Donal O’Sullivan 1216, Peter Gilmore 1906, and Eric Loeffler 1748. Lots of Philly and Delaware guys doing battle with the nation’s best.
Eric Loeffler (backwards hat) of Run MN battles with Jorge Maravilla 1852 of West Valley TC, Jacques Sallberg 1261 of Cal Coast, Michael Gordon of Dirigo RC based in Maine, and Roosevelt Cook also of Cal Coast. These five men all placed in the top six.
Brad Poore of Auburn, CA running for West Valley TC placed eighth overall, as West Valley TC scored five runners in the top ten to win the title.
Brock Butler of Greater Philadelphia TC leads a group of runners in the masters race in which he placed 24th overall. Tim Hardy 1747 of Team MN placed 12th.

Roosevelt Cook, Jr. of the Cal Coast Track Club finishes sixth overall in 33:33.
Steve Kartalia of the Baltimore Washington Athletic Club places 22nd in the 50 to 59 group in 37:30.
