European Athletics SPAR Cross Country Championships, Lisbon, Portugal, December 8, 2019—Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway won his fourth European Junior (U20) cross country title, with another convincing win on the hilly course at Bella Vista Park in Lisbon. Ayetullah Aslanhan of Turkey earned the silver, with Efrem Gidey of Ireland winning the bronze. Gidey came to Ireland from Eritrea in 2017. Etson Barros of Portugal finished fourth, Charles Hicks of Great Britain was fifth and led Great Britain to the team title, with Matthew Willis (9th), and Zakariya Mahamed (11th) scoring for GBR. Team Norway was second and Portugal, the local favorite, was third. Ireland and France rounded out the top five teams.
Nadia Battocletti of Italy, became the first ever Italian woman to win a medal at European XC when she won gold in Tilburg in 2018. Battocletti did it again this year with a strong finish, winning by three seconds.
Klara Lukan of Slovenia took the silver. Mariana Machado of Portugal won the bronze. Delia Sclabas of Switzerland was fourth and Zofia Dudek of Poland was fifth. Great Britain was the top team, led by Izzy Fry (6th), Saskia Millard (11th), and Amelia Samuels (12th). Italy was second, France was third, with Switzerland 4th and Portugal 5th.

Greta Karinauskaite of Lithuania runs uphill with Helen Pacurariu-Nagy of Romania. They would place 40th and 44th respectively and lead their teams.
Kseniya Kuznetsova and Irina Shipitsyna are Authorized Neutral Athletes. They are both Russian nationals, and had their applications to compete approved by the World Athletics Doping Review Board as neutral athletes on Nov 18, 2019. They placed 43rd and 61st.

Hakon Stavik of Norway placed 8th, and was Norway’s number two man, as they won the team silver.
Florian Bremm of Germany placed 41st, dueling with Job Ijtsma of Netherlands, who placed 68th.Park Bela Vista was undulating to say the least. The U20 men head uphill early in the race. Dudek finished 5th and won the USA Foot Locker XC in San Diego.
