York College Men Clinch Fifth CAC Cross Country Championship

York, PA, November 2, 2019—York College men’s cross-country squad made their final appearance count in the Capital Athletic Conference by capturing their second straight conference title while hosting the championships at Reservoir Hill on Saturday, November 2nd. York College totaled 36 points, beating Christopher Newport by 10 points. Mary Washington finished third with 68 points.

York College, which is joining the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) next fall, concluded their CAC stay with their fifth cross country championship. The Spartan men had won the championship four previous years.

Christopher Newport Captains Win at CAC Championships 

Christopher Newport (Newport News, VA), women’s cross country team (51 points) edged defending champs York College by four points to earn the Capitol Athletic Conference championship. Salisbury University finished in a distant third by 20 points.   

“We knew the women were going to be close, and they had to be patient and let the race come to them,” said Spartan head coach Stephen LoBianco. “After the first lap, the women were in a distant fourth behind CNU. They showed a ton of strength and character to come back on them and narrowly miss out on winning their fourth straight championship. “
