Matherne and Gerstenbacher repeat as champions

York, PA, September 24, 2022, 45th White Rose Run—Zoë Matherne of Philadelphia enjoys running the York White Rose Run, and definitely enjoys winning it.  She won this 5-mile city race in 29:27. Matherne joins Caroll Myers and Julie Bowers as four-time White Rose Run champions.  She had been tied with Misti Demko with three victories. 

Samuel Gerstenbacher of Lancaster became the first repeat men’s champion since 1987 when John Doub won four straight from 1984 to 1987.  Gerstenbacher, who runs for the colorful F & M Track Club, won in 24:33. 

2020 champion Christopher Myers of Lancaster, was second in 25:21.  Ty Stump of Camp Hill was third in 26:20, Ciaran Fisher of Marion Heights, PA was fourth in 26:25.  Nate Romberger of Lewisberry was fifth in 26:32.  Eric Ferree of Seven Valleys was top master in 30:23.  Evan Sandt of Conestoga was second in 30:49.

Bryanna Urban of Lititz, who ran with Matherne for most of the race, was second in 29:43.  Alyssa Dever of Reading was third in 30:01.  Rachel Rowe of Hummelstown was fourth in 30:45. Teal Liu of Hershey was fifth in 30:45.

Sarah Wenger of Dallastown was the top master in 33:56. Tanya Navarro of Seven Valleys was second in 35:39.

The F & M team won the team trophy in 2022.  Fleet Feet-Mechanicsburg won it in 2021.  The River Runners were the largest team in the 2022 York White Rose Run.  Ryan California State Farm Insurance was not only a sponsor, but featured a large team.

Christopher Martin of York won the stroller division in 30:39 as did Samantha Stover of York, in 44:55.

280 runners completed the 2022 York White Rose Run.
