Grant and Coco Win Gold Star Memorial 5K

York, PA, May 30, 2022—The Gold Star Memorial 5K is a Memorial Day tradition in York. The 5K course starts and finishes at the awesome Veterans Memorial Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden. The race is directed by Jeff Hines and Patti Stirk.

Peter Grant of Philadelphia won the 5K in 18:15 after breaking away from Anthony Roselli (18:41) and Dellas Edminsten III (18:54), both of York, who took the other two podium spots.

Angela Coco of York won in 23:23. Megan Dodson of York was chasing her all the way and took second and top master in 23:41. York marathon ace Kelly McKinley was third and second master in 24:29, just fifteen days after completing her 50^th marathon.

94 runners finished the 5K, with many runners/walkers doing the 9-mile Tour de Memorials, along with several cyclists.

York masters stars Megan Dodson, Kelly McKinley, and Heather Roe were second, third, and fourth overall.

Angela Coco of York won the 2022 Gold Star 5K in 23:23.

Peter Grant #601 of Philadelphia shares the lead with Anthony Roselli of York. Dellas Edmisten III of York hangs with the two leaders. Grant won in 18:15.

Aaron Lax #545 of New Cumberland, PA ran the Gold Star 5K carrying this heavy log.

Les Bell of York wins his age group as usual. Bell, 75, was 19th overall in 26:42.
