Jared Ward #24 in the final 2K of the Boston Marathon. The iconic Citgo sign and Kenmore Square loom ahead. Ward had a great day with a 2:09:25 and 8th overall.

Gabriel Mudel of USA placed 72nd in U20 race. Behind him is the infamous Museum Roof.

Deena Kastor ran 59:15, then stayed around to warmly greet other fast finishers like Maura Carroll of Arlington, VA. Kastor was second master.

Megan DiGregorio of Baltimore running top master Pete LoBianco #204 just south of the Howard Tunnel, in the pouring rain.

Kirk Millikan of Richmond, VA ran 3:30:44 dressed as a taco. Matt Puffer #725 of Valparaiso, IN finished 42 seconds in front of the treat.

Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda is overjoyed with the World XC title, he worked hard to win.

Des Linden of Michigan is a fan favorite. Linden won in 2018, placed 5th in 2019 in 2:27:00.

Miguel Encinas of Bridgeport, Ohio runs the Debbie Green Memorial 5K with the USA flag.

Stanley Kebenei of USA placed 35th.

Stephanie Bruce of USA, a veteran of two World XC heads through the mud, just ahead of three USA teammates. Dolshi Tesfu of Eritrea, placed 38th, and Emily Brichacek of Australia, placed 35th.

Yuki Kawauchi of Japan was the 2018 winner, Krista Duchene of Canada was third overall and top master among the women. Both might be hoping for wicked weather again in 2019, as they both thrive in bad conditions. (Photo by Karen Mitchell).
