John Rudy Park, York, PA, January 2, 2022—York Road Runners Club’s Winter Series Race #4 was held near Emigsville, PA. The Rudy Park 5 Miler started at the northern terminus of the York Heritage Rail Trail. It was an unusual 61 degrees for the January 2nd race.
Joanna Hayes of Dillsburg, PA who won the Baltimore Marathon in October, continued her winning ways in the York Winter Series, with a 31:36 victory. Leah Navarro (12) of Seven Valleys was second in 33:11. Becky Doner of York was third in 33:55. Leah’s mom Tanya Navarro was top master, in 35:51, and was seventh overall.
Matt Marcini of York was the men’s winner and top master in 29:25. He ran in front of a pack of teenage runners and successful held them off. Tyler Billet of York was second in 29:45. Kaleb Kabakjian of Conestoga, PA was third in 29:57.
263 runners finished the five miler in great weather. 118 finished the 1-mile run, which was won by Jeremiah “JT” Hetrick of Millersville, PA and Becky Doner of York in 6:30.
