D’Amato and Mantz Win USATF Titles

Hardeeville, SC, Mortgage Network Road Races Half Marathon, USATF Half-Marathon Championship, December 5, 2021—Keira D’Amato of Richmond, VA, at 37, won her first USATF championship.  D’Amato had a convincing win, earning a personal best, a course record, and a big win.  D’Amato, who broke away early in the race, was just eleven seconds off the 1:07:44 USA record for an all-women’s race, set by Molly Huddle.

Natosha Rogers of Denver, CO was second in 1:09:36.  Dakotah Lindwurm of Eagan, MN  was third in 1:09:40, both Natosha and Dakotah earning personal bests.  Lauren Paquette of Flagstaff, AZ ran 1:09:46 in her half-marathon debut, and placed fourth.  Makena Morley of Boulder, CO was fifth in 1:09:57.

Conner Mantz of Provo, UT  won the USATF half-marathon championship in his first pro race, in 1:00:55.  Mantz is a two-time NCAA cross-country champion, representing BYU.

Sam Chelanga of Colorado Springs, CO was second in 1:00:59.  Nico Montanez of Mammoth Lakes, CA was third in 1:01:13.  Clayton Young of Provo, UT was fourth in 1:01:18.  Futsum Zienasellassie of Indianapolis, IN was fifth in 1:01:21.

The Mortgage Network Road Races Half-Marathon took place last year with an invited field of regional elites.  49 elite men and 40 elite women finished, and there were additional runners in a sub-elite race and a 5K.
