ARLINGTON, VA, OCTOBER 27, 2019—Jordan Tropf of Silver Spring, Maryland was the winner of the 44th Marine Corps Marathon, held October 27, in 2:27:43. Tropf, who won the 2016 Baltimore Marathon, has finally won MCM after seven attempts. Adam Stokes of Bristol, England was second in 2:28:59. Matt O’Neil of Woodbridge, VA was third in 2:31:30.
Brittany Charboneau of Golden, Colorado was the women’s champion in 2:44:47. She had her eyes on the course record of Olga Markova of Russia (2:37:00) set in 1990, but the horrid weather nixed those plans.
Margarita Quintero of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico was second in 2:48:22. Selvi Rajagopal of Columbia, Maryland was third in 2:50:42
18,512 finished the “People’s Marathon” that featured for the first time, a 50K. Famed ultra-runner Michael Wardian of Arlington, VA won in 3:11:52, and Liz Ozeki of Rockville, MD led the ladies in 3:42:04.
