Izewski sets course record at 46th Broad Street 10 Miler; Barrett is women’s champ

By Clay Shaw and Karen Mitchell

5.3.26 Philadelphia, PA—Josh Izewski of Durham, NC defended his 2025 Broad Street title with a course record-setting victory of 45:09.  The course runs the entire length of Broad Street from North Philly into the finish at the Navy Yard.  The course is fast and downhill, and in 2026 the weather was ideal for running, although chilly for journalists.

Tessa Barrett of Arlington, VA had a strong race, winning in 52:25.  Two-time champion Amber Zimmerman of Philadelphia was second in 53:37.  Amber was the top Philadelphia female for the fifth straight year. Sophia King of Richmond, VA was third in 53:43.  Diane Neubauer of Amber, PA was fourth in 54:40. Roberta Groner of Rochelle Park, NJ was fifth and top master in 55:26. Roberta finished 6th in the World Championships Marathon in very hot Qatar in 2019. Over 40 women broke the hour mark at the 2026 Broad Street Run.

JP Flavin of Rochester Hills, MI was second in 46:20. William Hague of Chicago was third in 47:30. Dennis Kipkosgei of Wailuku, Hawaii was fourth in 47:55. Peter Borger of Malvern was fifth in 48:02. Winter Parts of Towson, MD won the non-binary in 52:05. Tony Nogueira of Glen Ridge, NJ won the wheelchair race in 38:47.  Tony is 58-years-old

As a city guy, I always love witnessing the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run from the press truck, and seeing the changes as the course goes through the city is classic. This year, however, we decided on waiting for the finish at the finish line.  33,949 runners were credited with a finish, in the largest 10 Mile race in the USA.
