Jane Bareikis Wins Second Straight Pittsburgh Marathon; Birhanu Feyissa Tops in Men’s Race

5.4.25; Pittsburgh, PA—Jane Bareikis of Crestwood, IL won her second straight Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. Her 2025 winning time was 2:36:00.  Aberu Mekuria Zennebe of Ethiopia, who is 41 was second in 2:37:03.  Megan O’Neil of Rochester Hills, MI and the Hanson-Brooks Distance Project was third in 2:37:30.

Mulgeta Birhanu Feyissa of Ethiopia won in 2:14:30. Birhanu Feyissa made a “demonstrative move” on a downhill to finally separate from Kenya’s Milton Rotich, who took second in 2:14:42.  Ian Carter of Flagstaff, AZ earned the final podium spot with a 2:18:33.

3,784 marathoners finished the race.  The last finisher was Anthony Kovatch, 73, a beloved retired doctor from North Hills.  His bib read “Slow Tony;” he finished in 7:41.  He said it was his tenth Pittsburgh Marathon, and his first last-place finish.   He hopes to inspire others to give the marathon a try.

  1. as usual SENIORS do not exist when it comes to race results- it would take at least 3 minutes to publish name, location , age & time of the top 10 Men & Ladies. Would be nice if Runners Gazette requested it.
