Ondoro Nips Kiptoo at the Line; Kemboi is First Woman

5.4.25; Pittsburgh, PA—Wesley Kiptoo, the Flagstaff based Kenyan was looking for his fourth straight win at Dick’s Sporting Goods Half Marathon in Pittsburgh.  It was not to be, as Dominic Ondoro, also of Kenya, sling shotted about Kiptoo, and beat him to the finish line by a step.  Ondoro was clocked in 1:01:47, Kiptoo in 1:01:48.  Aidan Reed of Boulder, CO was third in 1:01:50, and was easily the top USA finisher.  Yemane Haileselassie of Eritrea was fourth in 1:02:44, and fellow Eritrean Amanuel Mesel was fifth in 1:04:51.

Everlyn Kemboi of Kenya was the women’s champion in 1:10:06.  Lilian Chebii of Kenya was second in 1:11:38.  Amy Davis-Green of Lake Orion, MI, and the Hansons-Brooks Racing Team was third in 1:12:01.  Steph Bruce of Flagstaff, AZ was fourth and top master in 1:14:13.  Caroline Garrett, of Rochester Hills, MI was fifth in 1:16:57, and also runs for Hansons-Brooks.

12,304 ran the Dick’s Sporting Goods Half Marathon, the largest of the three races on Pittsburgh Marathon weekend.

Pittsburgh Half Marathon elites take center stage just after the start on Liberty Avenue. Dominic Ondoro, Aidan Reed, Wesley Kiptoo, and Yemane Haileselassie would finish in the top four.
PGH Half Marathon elite women Everlyn Kemboi, Lilian Chebii, Amy Davis-Green would finish 1-2-3. Steph Bruce was fourth, and Kellen Waithira was sixth.

Colt Mack of Pittsburgh on a trainer, leads second place female Lilian Chebii of Kenya, near PMC Park.
Michael Williamson and Edward Yang lead a group of four through the streets near PNC Park. Really like that throwback Allegheny kit.
Too close to call ? USATF gave the nod to Dominic Ondoro (right) who edged 3-time champ Wesleu Kiptoo by one step. Ondoro at 1:01:47 and Kiptoo at 1:01:48.
CarLee Stimpfel of Rochester Hills, MI was sixth in 1:04:59.
Paul O’Donnell of Ireland was eighth in 1:06:03.
Ayrton Ledesma-Isennock of Mexico was ninth in 1:06:11.
