July 16, 2022, East Berlin, PA, Summerfest 5K—Steven Miller of York won the Summerfest 5K in 17:27. Miller, 15, who runs XC for West York was running with several other teenagers for the early part of the race. By the time the 5K was over, Miller had won by 21 seconds.
Bryanna Urban of Lititz won in 18:16, with only four teenage boys finishing ahead of her. Kristin Snyder of New Cumberland was second in 19:43. Chelsea Watson of Mt Holly Springs was third in 21:53. Kelly McKinley of York was top master and fourth in 22:12. Megan Dodson of York was fifth and second master in 22:41.
Jayden Craig of Westminster, MD was second in 17:48. Austin Strickler of York was third in 17:54. Peyton Small of Littlestown was fourth in 18:04. Mason Meads of Red Lion was the fifth male in 18:20. Eric Yurick of East Berlin was top master in 21:11.
125 runners finished the 5K, and although it was summertime warm, the race preceded the late July torrid heat wave. Many runners over 60 participated, including Terry Derk, 80, from Dauphin, PA. 73-year-old Miguel Aovneda came from Henderson, Nevada to participate. This was year 26 for the July race.
