Gebrhiwet Repeats as Champ at B.A.A. 5K

BOSTON, MA, APRIL 13, 2019—Hagos Gebrhiwet, an Ethiopian Olympic medalist, repeated as BAA 5K champ.  Gebrihwet finished in 13:42, just ahead of Ben True of New Hampshire (13:44).  Justyn Knight of Canada took third in 13:46. Falmouth Road Race 2018 champ Ben Flanagan of Canada was fourth in 13:49.  Bolder Boulder 2017 champ Gabriel Geay of Tanzania was fifth in 13:53.

Monicah Ngige of Kenya had a strong finish, and won the 5K in 15:16.  Violah Lagat of Kenya was second in 15:29.  Gotytom Gebreselase of Ethiopia was third in 15:35.  Kim Conley of Sacramento, CA was fourth, and first USA in 15:36.   Conley was pleased with her first road race in quite some time despite the rain and wind. 

USA Olympian Jennifer Rhines of San Diego was the top Master in 17:20.  Brendan Prindiville of Boston was the top male Master in 15:53. 

8469 total runners finished the flat and fast B.A.A. 5K course that starts and finishes in Boston Common and tours Back Bay, even going under the marathon finish bridge on Boylston Street.  Runners from around the world took part.
