Washington, DC; April 6, 2025—Taylor Roe of Raleigh, NC just simply crushed the field with a record-setting performance at the 52nd Credit Union 10 Miler in Washington, DC. Roe set a new world record for a women’s only event (the elite women start is 12 minutes before the elite men). Roe, who won the 2025 Publix Atlanta Half-Marathon in 1:07:22, was even more dominant at CUCB, winning by over a minute over 2nd place Adane Anmau of Ethiopia (51:00). Emma Grace Hurley of Indianapolis was third in 51:04. Fiona O’Keeffe of Durham, NC, the 2024 USA Olympic Trials Marathon champion, was fourth in 51:49. Aubrey Frentheway of Provo, UT was fifth in 51:58. Rain was predicted for the weekend events, and thankfully the weather was perfect for the 10 Miler. Construction eliminated a turn-around from past years, which along with the weather, and the competitive field made for a faster race in 2025. Sadly, most of the Cherry Blossoms were past peak.
Charles Hicks of Eugene, OR won the CUCB 10 Miler in 45:14. In a complicated citizenry situation, Hicks is a dual citizen of Great Britain and of the United States and he has represented GBR in the past. (See Mondo Duplantis of Sweden and Louisiana). Hicks was allowed to compete, but not allowed to win the USATF championship, which went to Alex Maier of Chapel Hill, NC, also the 2025 Publix Atlanta Half-Marathon champion, who was just one second back in 45:15. Biya Simbassa of Flagstaff, AZ was third in 45:23. Hillary Bor of Colorado Springs, the 2024 USATF 10 Mile champ, was fourth in 45:30. Wesley Kiptoo of Kenya, the 2024 CUCB overall winner, was fifth in 45:55.
The CUCB 10 Miler has been run since 1973. Over 18,000 participants this year, and funds from the event help earn money for the Children’s Miracle Day, with help from over 100 Credit Unions around the USA.
