Sanchez is Thrilled to Win Men’s U20 8K

1.20.2024 Mechanicsville, VA, 2024 USATF National Cross Country Men’s U20 Championships—Kevin Sanchez of Austin, TX had the luck of the Irish, as the Notre Dame runner won the U20 Men’s 8K in 24:07.  Kole Mathison of Carmel, IN and the University of Colorado was second in 24:18.  Mathison is the lone returnee to World XC; he was on the USA U20 bronze medal team in Bathurst, Australia.

Noah Breker of Plymouth, MN was third in 24:21.  Aidan Jones of Minneapolis, MN was fourth in 24:23. Birhanu Herriman of Lebanon, NH and Georgetown University was fifth in 24:25.  Berkley Nance of nearby Richmond, VA was sixth in 24:26, earning the final spot on Team USA going to Serbia.

Matthew Donis of Palmdale, CA was seventh in 24:35.  Aidan Cox of Norwood, NH and the University of Virginia was eighth in 24:37.  These runners on down are alternates at this point. 41 runners finished the Men’s U20 race.

Logan Law #272 of Portland, OR and Gonzaga University, Kole Mathison #295, of Carmel, IN and University of Colorado, and Kevin Sanchez #276 of Austin, TX and Notre Dame University lead over the hay bales.
Kole Mathison #295 was driving the pace much of the race, but Kevin Sanchez #276 matched strides, as a strong pack finished close behind the duo.
Matthew Donis of Palmdale, CA finished seventh in 24:35. Birhanu Harriman of Lebanon, NH gives chase and placed fifth in 24:25.
Liam Newhart of Oak Park, IL and University of Wisconsin was 9th in 24:39. Bille Issa #292 of Valencia, CA and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo was 12th in 24:53.
Logan Law of Portland, OR and Gonzaga University led for awhile and ended up 11th in 24:52.
Micah Sanchez of El Cajon, CA and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo was 13th in 25:07.
Ian Kemey of Columbia, MO and Oklahoma State University was 14th in 25:16.
Gavin Mogck of Media, PA and George Mason University was 16th in 25:33.
Bearren Kee #270 of Fort Defiance, AZ races with Symond Martin #300 of Page, AZ.
Theodore Roundface of Gallup High School in Gallup, NM was 33rd in 28:05.
Kale Loretto of Santa Fe, NM and Wings of America was 37th.
