September 10, 2023, Harrisburg, PA—Fred Joslyn of Boiling Springs, PA tuned up for his upcoming Berlin Marathon by winning the Harrisburg Half Marathon in 1:13:47. Joslyn was running seriously and opted not to take the Fireball this year as he often does on the home stretch. Nicole Schleger of Lewisburg had an even more convincing win with a nearly 5-minute win in 1:21:32. Only eight men finished ahead of Schlegel.
Scott McGeary of Harrisburg ran a solid race for second overall, finishing in 1:14:57. Cem Aslan of Camp Hill was third and top master in 1:17:41. Johnny Guignet of Center Valley, PA was fourth in 1:18:58. Jake Thorsen of Lancaster was fifth in 1:19:05.
Michelle Foster of Reinholds was second overall in 1:26:11. Joanna Hayes of Dillsburg was third in 1:29:42. Michelle Chaffin of Mountville, PA was fourth and top master in 1:30:15. Hollie Border of Williamsport was fifth in 1:31:57.
There were 545 total finishers in the half marathon and another 197 in a 10k that we really didn’t cover. Dan Forry of Columbia 33:15 and Allie Guillard of Camp Hill 36:58 won the 10K.
Fred Joslyn #251 of Boiling Springs, with Scott McGeary #338 of Harrisburg and masters winner Cem Aslan #15 of Camp Hill. The trio has separated from the others and would be the podium at the finish.
Nicole Schlegel of Lewisburg, PA wins the UPMC Harrisburg Half Marathon in 1:21:32.
Michelle Foster of Reinholds, PA finishes second in 1:26:11.
Scott McGeary of Harrisburg finishes second overall in 1:14:57.
Joanna Hayes of Dillsburg finishes third overall in 1:29:42. Joanna was the 2021 Baltimore Marathon champion.
Jake Thorsen of Lancaster placed fifth in 1:19:05.
Susie Racek of Emmaus, PA enjoys coming toward the finish in sixth place in 1:35:08 after 13 miles of smiles.
Kelly Rose of Dover, PA finished seventh in 1:35:46, one day after solid trail run 10K at the Sasquatch the day prior.
Lindsay Pridgen of Harrisburg runs along the Greenbelt path on her way to eighth overall in 1:35:57.
Nickeaa Raves of New Bloomfield was tenth and second master in 1:39:56.
Arynne Moody of Salfordville, PA ran 1:47:13.

Marathoner Megan DiGregorio of Baltimore paces the 1:45 goal group with Peter Dragich #121 of Plant City, FL and York’s Kelly McKinley #342.
2 hour pacer Laura Jacobs leads a group of runners down Front Street with Sarah Messimer #349 of Harrisburg, Lauren Enterline #138 of Harrisburg, and Christian Minnich #356 of Landisville. Jacobs was clocked at 1:59:23, doing her pace job well.
Front Street in Harrisburg is a great place for train aficionados, as 1:40 pacer Lufeng Zou of Wallingford, CT leads a large group.
Emily Nelson of Mechanicsburg runs with Madison Giovanniello of Harrisburg on Front Street early in the race.
Shannon Peters of Harrisburg was 20th in 1:43:58.
Chad Custer of Harrisburg heard several Penn State cheers on his way to 13th overall in 1:25:07.
Shelly Latsha of Mechanicsburg ran 1:50:48 to win her age group.
Lufeng Zou of Wallingford, CT paces the 1:40 goal duo of Michael Faneck #142 of Andreas, PA and Sam Brown #51 of Enola.
