Hartzell and Beckert Win Run for Reading 5K

Mechanicsburg, PA, August 5, 2023—OK, the Run for Reading is for books, not for the nearby city of Reading.  Anyway, it’s kind of a reverse inside joke.  This race was held at East Winding Hill Park near Mechanicsburg and benefits, you guessed it, the library.

Ryan Hartzell of Enola blitzed the 5k course in 16:35 and won by over a minute. Devon Fogel of Whitehall, PA was second in 17:46.  Vincent Topino of Mechanicsburg was third overall and top master in 18:53.

Kris Beckert of Lemoyne was the champ in 22:37.  2022 champ Arynne Moody of Harleysville, PA was second in 23:31.  Kelly Dworak of Carlisle was third and top master (runners over 40), in 24:35. Kelly is 61.

There were exactly 100 finishers in the Run for Reading 5K.

Rachel Gartner #3522, Julie Graft #3526 and Robert Hendricks #3531 all finished within two seconds in the Run for Reading 5K.
Vincent Topino of Mechanicsburg who had already finished third overall in 18:53, went back to finish with his son Levi in the Run for Reading 5K.
Kris Beckert of Lemoyne was the overall champ and top master in 22:37.
Arynne Moody of Harleysville, PA was second overall in 23:31.
Hudson Vrbicek of Harrisburg was fifth overall in 19:41.
Kelly Dworak #3516 of Carlisle was third overall and easily won her age group. Local legend Jeff Paladina and Karla Longo Gouveia of York are also in this pack.
Ryan Hartzell of Enola and Devon Fogel of Whitehall, PA lead the Run for Reading 5k in Mechanicsburg.
