Great Showing at White Rose Run

BY CLAY SHAW

YORK, PA--York's oldest race (39th running), the York White Rose Five Mile Run held September 19, and best race of the year, had perfect running conditions for the event and postrace party at the White Rose Bar & Grill. The modified course uses Beaver Street for the start/finish, which is a positive change. The course still has the Farquhar Park hill, and mainly tours the NW part of York City. There was good competition in both genders for 2015.

Andy Weaver of Baltimore, MD won in 24:49, while the 2013 champ Darryl Brown of Exton, PA was second in 24:56. It was the first time in many years that two men broke 25 minutes. Mike Spooner was third in 25:12.

Carmen Graves of Collegeville, PA won in 29:19.  Emily Gispert of Baltimore, MD was second in 31:00. Brenda Hodge of York (age 44) was third female overall in 31:07.

Over 400 participated in the 39th running of the York White Rose Run
