Spirit of Gettysburg 5K

GETTYSBURG, PA--Runners of all ages came out to the YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County to participate in the 16th annual Spirit of Gettysburg 5K & Kids’ Run on July 8. All proceeds benefit YWCA community programs.

Dave Berdan, 25, of Baltimore, MD took first place in the 5K run with a time of 15:18. The first place female winner was Elena Orlova, 36, of Russia with a time of 17:02.

The Spirit of Gettysburg is a nationally renowned event which includes a 5K run, 5K Wheelchair Race, One-Mile Fun Run/Fitness Walk, and Kids’ Sprints. The race is one of only a handful of road races permitted on National Military Park roads. Rated as one of the best historical runs in the country and USATF certified, the course tours the first day of the famous July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg.

The 16th annual event is made possible through the generous donations of its many sponsors including Wellspan Health, Best Western Gettysburg Hotel, Alpha Benefits Group, Community Banks, and C.S. Davidson, Inc. Media sponsor was 1320 WGET, race application printing was sponsored by TNP Commercial Printing, and Ryan C. Stouch Creative designed the race logo. The race is held in grateful cooperation with the Gettysburg National Military Park.
