924 Participate in Spirit
of Gettysburg Races

GETTYSBURG, PA--More than 924 participated in the 12th Annual Spirit of Gettysburg 5K, 1-Mile Fun Run/Fitness Walk, and Kids' Sprints on July 13 at the YWCA of Gettysburg and Adams County.

Keith Dowling, 33, of Reston, VA, took first place in the 5K run with a time of 14:36. The first place female winner was Vicki Boyer Cauller, 29, of York, with a time of 17:18. Seven hundred nineteen finished the 5K run out of 802 registered.

Scott Seiss, of Rocky Ridge, MD, came in first in the 5K Wheelchair race with a time of 14:55. Tom Gorman, of Littlestown, took second with a time of 15:00.

One hundred twenty-four Adams County residents participated in the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Fitness Walk. One hundred seventy-one children took part in the Kids' Sprints.

The 12th annual event was made possible through the generous donations of its many sponsors including Gettysburg Hospital Heart Center, Gettysburg Hospital Rehab, and WGET, in cooperation with the Gettysburg National Military Park.

The Spirit of Gettysburg received much cooperation from the community from supporting contributors such as C.E. Williams' Sons, Inc., Coca-Cola, Days Inn Gettysburg, Frederick Produce Co., Gettysburg Pretzel Co., Gettysburg Times, Giant, H&H Liquid Transport, Hollabaugh Brothers Fruit Co., Kilwin's, Knouse Foods Coop., Mott's Fruit Co., Perkins Family Restaurant, Pfaltzgraff, Propel/Gatorade, Rice Fruit Co., Sandoe's Fruit Market, Snyder's of Hanover, Inc., Southwest Airlines, Stauffer's Biscuit Co., and Weis Market.
