BALTIMORE, MD--Baltimore’s largest race (other than the Marathon Festival) gets out the green people for a big St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The parade followed the 5K, held on March 14. Dave Berdan, in great shape, scorched the course in 14:29, was 20 seconds up on Jake Klim (14:49), and over half-a-minute on third place Izzy Mehmedovic (15:07). The top three men broke away from the over 4000-runner field very early in the race. Sherry Stick had an even larger margin of victory (40 seconds), as she won in 18:00.  Diane Heiser was second in 18:40, and Courtney Waldhauser third in 19:04. Of note was 13-year-old Michael Wegner who placed 9th overall in 16:11. Sarah Mendes of Goleta, California placed 8th overall in 20:05, wearing green knee socks. Brittany Lang, age 11, of Columbia, MD placed 9th female overall in 20:17.

A large outdoor party at Market Place caps off this large and spirited event.
