Huddle Dominates Women’s Field;
Korir Wins by a Hair at NYC Half

NEW YORK, NY--Molly Huddle of Providence, RI became the first USA champ in the history of the New York City Half Marathon, held March 16, winning in a PR time of 1:08:31 which equaled the course record (Sally Kipyego KEN, 2014).

Joyce Chepkirui of Kenya was 11 seconds back in 1:08:42, with defending champ Sally Kipyego over a minute back in third with a 1:09:39.

Leonard Korir and Stephen Sambu, both of Kenya waged a duel all the way to the tape with Korir the victor in 1:01:06, and Sambu just behind in 1:01:07.  Juan Luis Barrios of Mexico made the podium in third with a 1:01:14 PB.  American Andrew Bumbalough debuted in 1:02:04, good for 5th overall, just edging Dathan Ritzenhein by 3 seconds for top USA honors. 

Very deep elite fields highlighted this nearly 10,000 runner race through Manhattan on a cold mid-March morning.
