YORK, PA--The 5th Annual Bob Potts Marathon was held on Sunday, May 26. The marathon starts and finishes on the campus of York College, and takes a one-mile loop into the southwest part of the city, before heading south on the York County Heritage Rail Trail. The course is nearly flat, and according to race director Sean Potts, who honors his late father with this great event, has the 5th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in the USA. 406 runners officially finished the 2013 marathon that was held in perfect running weather, somewhat surprising for late May.

Lowell Ladd of West Chester, PA, won the marathon in 2:42:11. Ladd led early in the race, but the lead changed hands several times throughout the marathon. Ladd regained the lead again near Mile 24. Justin Krebs of York, who led the 2011 and 2012 marathons well into the later stages, led through the turnaround to Mile 18. Adam Wytko of Columbia, MD, took over the lead for the next six miles, before Ladd took over. Wytko was second overall in 2:44:12. Feliciano Vega Aguilar of Dublin, OH, who won the 2010 and 2011 events, never led in 2013, but did finish on the podium in third with a 2:45:16. Krebs was fourth in 2:48:43. Nineteen runners broke the coveted three-hour mark on a great day for running.
