Runners Revel in Baltimore

Marathon

BALTIMORE, MD--Patrick Hearn of Hampton, VA, and a native of nearby Sykesville MD took over the lead at Mile 16 and went on to win the Baltimore Marathon, held October 15, in 2:26:18.  Dan Swain of Parkville MD was second in 2:31:17.  In third it was Michael Wardian of Arlington VA in 2:31:45. Wardian was the top Masters.   Dave Berdan, the defending champ, finished despite severe hip pain over the final 10 miles, in fifth place in 2:35:45.

Caitlyn Tateishi of Washington, DC, who grew up in Hawaii, was the women's champion in  2:55:42.  Silvia Baage of Rockville, MD was second in 3:05:27.  Janet Becker of Rockford, MI was third and top Masters in 3:05:56.  2354 finished the marathon.

Half Marathon

Dustin Whitlow of Alexandria, VA won in 1:13:29.  Daniel Martin of Arlington, VA was second in 1:15:11, Jesse Henderson of Taneytown, MD was third in 1:17:05.

Brenda Hodge of York, PA, a 45-year-old Masters runner, came from behind in the final miles to become the women's champion in 1:26:54.  Cody Mezebish of Westminster, MD was second in 1:28:10.  Hannah Peterson of Fairfax, VA was third in 1:28:18.  The half capped at 11,000 runners.

Zack Kaminski of Baltimore, MD won in 16:10.  Gabriel Rodriguez of Seven Valleys, PA was second in 16:14. Graham Strzelecki of Catonsville, MD was third in 16:44.   Maryna Novik of Vikedal, Norway was the women's


champ in 17:38.  Caroline Bauer of Columbia MD was second in  18:00 and Jen Ecker of Baltimore was third in 18:21.
